Cu(I)Cl decomposition of the phenyliodonium ylides derived from o-, m- and p-methoxyphenyl-3-ketopentanoic acid methyl esters affords the corresponding 5-, 6- and 7-methoxy-1-carbomethoxy-2-tetralones in preparative yields.
