Abstract Eight highly oxygenated flavones, including one new compound, were isolated from the leaves of an Indonesian medicinal plant, Murraya paniculata. Seven of them were identified as 5-hydroxy-6,7,8,3′,4′,5′-hexamethoxyflavone (gardenin A), 5,3′-dihydroxy-6,7,8,4′,5′-pentamethoxyflavone (gardenin C), 6,7,8,4′-tetramethoxy-5,3′,5′-trihydroxyflavone (gardenin E), 5-hydroxy-6,7,8,3′,4′-pentamethoxyflavone
