The present invention relates to microcapsules comprising a core within a polymeric shell, wherein the polymeric shell comprises a copolymer formed from 50 to 99.9%, by weight of the polymeric shell, of a first shell monomer which is ethylenically unsaturated and which has more than one ethylenic double bond; 0.01 to 50%, by weight of the polymeric shell, of a second shell monomer which is ethylenically unsaturated and which has one ethylenic double bond; and optionally, 0 to 30%, by weight of the polymeric shell, of one or more other shell monomers. The core of the microcapsules comprises an active substance, particularly a phase change material (PCM). The polymeric shell forms less than 8wt% of the total weight of the microcapsules.
