Chiral 2,2â²:6â²,2â³-terpyridines bearing bornyl groups
in the 6-position are prepared; these ligands preferentially form
P or M dinuclear double helicates upon coordination to
copper(I) which have been structurally characterised.

dinuclear double-helical complexes was observed with silver(I) salts. The doublehelicates are formed with good to excellent diastereoselectivity for helical chirality. With these 6-substituted ligands, doublehelicates can exist as head-to-head (HH) or head-to-tail (HT) isomers; in solution, the HT isomers are favored, although solid state interactions can overcome this preference.
