The preparation of fusedheterocycles with a benzazepinone moiety was realised via an intramolecular Heck coupling reaction either at position 2 or at position 3 of the heterocyclic system. This method allowed the synthesis of the pyrrolo[2,3-c]azepinone core and Paullone derivatives.

The synthesis of indole ring-fused benzazepinone series as latonduine derivatives has been developed via an intramolecularHeckreaction. The scope has been enlarged not only to indole moiety but also to pyrrolo and benzo[b]thiophene nuclei.
