    Abstract A new and a simple approach toward synthesis of 1,3,5-trisubstituted pyrazoles from chalcone arylhydrazones via oxidative cyclization has been achieved. 2,3-Dichloro-5,6-dicyano-1,4-benzoquinone was successfully used as an oxidizing agent to give excellent yields of pyrazoles.     An efficient aromatization of 1,3,5-trisubstituted 2-pyrazolines to their corresponding pyrazoles by NBS was carried out under microwave irradiation and solvent-free conditions in moderate yields. It has also been observed that, by activating the NBS reagent on silica gel as a support the reaction times can be dramatically reduced and good yields are obtained.

    Abstract Bismuth(III) nitrate pentahydrate, Bi(NO3)3 · 5H2O, has been used as a mild, efficient, and inexpensive oxidant for the oxidative aromatization of several 1,3,5‐trisubstituted 2‐pyrazolines to pyrazoles in acetic acid under microwave irradiation with good to excellent yields.
