  The reduction of dimethyl gamma-[(N-p-toluenesulfonyl)amino]-beta-ketophosphonates 7a-e with different hydrides gave dimethyl gamma-[(N-p-toluenesulfonyl)amino]-beta-hydroxyphosphonates 9a-e and 10a-e with good chemical yield and moderated d astereoselectivity.
