methods for synthesizing polyacetylenes were studied. The reaction of 1,4-dibromobutyne with monosubstituted acetylene alcohols (propargyl alcohol and dimethylethynylcarbinol) in the presence of a catalytic system formed the corresponding unconjugated polyacetylene diols, from which polyacetylene derivatives were prepared. Polyacetylenes containing several triple and double bonds were also synthesized
