  (EN) Fluorinated biphenyldiole derivatives of formula (I), where R1 and R2 are each independently alkyl, alkenyl and wherein one CH2-group can also be replaced by -O-, -O-CO-, -CO-O-, and/or -CH=CH- with the proviso that two O atoms are not directly linked. The chain may be interrupted by a trans-1,4-cyclohexylene group and/or a 1,4-bicyclooctylene group, or a 1,4-phenylene group wherein one or two CH-groups may be replaced by N. These compounds have liquid crystalline properties and may be used as components of liquid crystal materials.(FR) Des dérivés de biphényldiol fluoré ont la formule (I), dans laquelle R1 et R2 sont, indépendamment l'un de l'autre, alkyle, alkényle, un groupe CH2 pouvant être également remplacé par -O-, -O-CO-, -CO-O- et/ou -CH=CH-, à condition que deux atomes d'oxygène ne soient pas directement liés. La chaîne peut être interrompue par un groupe trans-1,4-cyclohexylène et/ou par un groupe 1,4-bicyclooctylène ou par un groupe 1,4-phénylène dans lequel un ou deux groupes CH peuvent être remplacés par N. Ces composés présentent des propriétés caractéristiques des cristaux liquides et peuvent être utilisés comme composants de matériaux à cristaux liquides.
