(1Z, 4Z)1,5-Dilithium-1,4-pentadiene (I) is synthesized by the reaction of (1Z, 4Z)1,5-diiodo-1,4-pentadiene (IIIb) with butyllithium. I reacts with trimethylchlorosilane to give the (1Z, 4Z)1,5-bis(trimethylsilyl)-1,4-pentadiene (IV) and with dimethyldichlorosilane to give the 1,1-dimethyl-1-silacyclohexadiene (V). The structures of I, III, IV and V are confirmed by 1H NMR, IR, UV and mass spectra
