Iodine‐Catalyzed Aerobic Oxidative Cleavage of C–C δ‐Bonds: Difunctionalization of Dienones

A new and efficient catalytic strategy that combines organocatalysis and iodine catalysis was first developed for the difunctionalization of dienone. The reaction employs molecular oxygen as the terminal oxidant, and proceeds under mild and metal‐free conditions. The approach results in 1,5‐diketo epoxides in moderate to high yields.
