  The reaction of 2‐bromo‐1,4,5,8‐tetramethoxynaphthalene (7) with sodium amide (or LDA) in the presence of a large excess of furan gave the epoxy compound 9. The similar reaction of 2,6‐dibromo‐1,4,5,8‐tetramethoxynaphthalene (8) afforded the diepoxy compound 10. The crystal structure of antidiepoxide 10 was determined by an X‐ray crystallography.
