The invention relates to methods for preventing the attachment of aquatic organisms to surfaces that are submerged for extensive periods of time in water. More particularly, this invention relates to the protection of submerged surfaces with alkylamine derivatives as antifouling agents. The invention is beneficiary for the environment in that it will permit the use of copper- and tin-free paints.
