    Absorption and fluorescence of soluble polar diketo-pyrrolo-pyrroles
    摘要:
    Six soluble derivatives of 3,6-diphenyl-2,5-dihydro-pyrrolo[3,4-c]pyrrole-1,4-dione N-alkylated on pyrrolinone ring with polar substituents in para positions of pendant phenyl rings were synthesized: five of them are reported for the first time. Absorption and fluorescence spectra were studied in solvents of different polarity. The compounds show small solvatochromism of absorption and a moderate positive solvatochromism of fluorescence, especially when substituted by strong electron-donating piperidino substituent. A significant decrease of fluorescence quantum yields and its biexponential decay for dipolar derivatives in polar solvents was tentatively ascribed to the formation of twisted intramolecular charge transfer (TICT) excited state. All six compounds show fluorescence in polycrystalline solid-state with the maxima covering a range over 200 nm in visible and near infrared region. (C) 2011 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

    The present invention relates to 1,4-diketopyrrolo[3,4-c]pyrrole (DPP) derivatives of the below formula to their manufacture; to their use as organic semiconductors, e.g. in semiconductor devices, especially a sensor, a diode, a photodiode, an organic field effect transistor, a transistor for flexible displays, and/or a solar cell (photovoltaic cell); to such semiconductor devices comprising diketopyrrolopyrrol derivatives of the formula I as a semiconducting effective means, and to devices containing said semiconductor devices. The compounds of the formula I have excellent solubility in organic solvents. High efficiency of energy conversion, excellent field-effect mobility, good on/off current ratios and/or excellent stability can be observed, when said compounds are used in semiconductor devices or organic photovoltaic (PV) devices.

Preferably, said charged particle comprises a dye attached to said inorganic core and said counter ion comprises a (poly)siloxane moiety linked via suitable bridge members to a quaternary, positively charged, nitrogen or phosphorus atom, or to a moiety carrying an anionic functional group. Said composition may be used e.g. in the form of a homogenous dispersion in an electrophoretic display.
