Dimethyl malonate as a one-carbon source: a novel method of introducing carbon substituents onto aromatic nitro compounds

A number of carbon substituents possessing various functional groups could be introduced onto aromatic nitro compounds using dimethyl malonate as a one-carbon source and linker.
