An enantioselective Friedel−Crafts alkylation of 4,7-dihydroindoles and α,β-unsaturated aldehydes has been developed. The process is promoted by diphenylprolinol ether to afford 2-substituted 4,7-dihydroindoles in high yields and enantioselectivities.
