Liquidxenon is a useful inert solvent for e.s.r.studies of reactive free radicals; the g-factors of many types of radical are not the same in xenon as in normal solvents.

The radicals (Et3Si)2N·, Me3SiNBut, and ButMe2SiNBu2 have been generated photochemically and studied using e.s.r. spectroscopy; previous assignments of spectra to the first two radicals appear to be incorrect.
