  Compounds represented by general formula (1), a process for the production thereof, a method of killing weeds or controlling their growth therewith, and a herbicide containing the same as the active ingredient. In formula (1), R¹ represents H, C₁ to C₃ alkyl or C₁ to C₃ haloalkyl; R² represents C₁ to C₆ haloalkyl; R³ represents H, C₁ to C₆ alkyl, C₁ to C₆ haloalkly, CH₂OH, halogen or nitro; R⁴ represents H or halogen; R⁵ represents H, halogen, nitro or cyano; X represents O or S; and Da and Db represent each independently H, C₁ to C₈ alkyl, C₁ to C₆ haloalkyl, C₃ to C₈ cycloalkyl, C₂ to C₈ alkenyl, etc., provided that the cases where both of Da and Db represent H, etc., are excluded. These compounds scarcely inflict chemical injury on crop and have a high herbicidal effect on various weeds even in small doses.
