  A functionalized polymer includes a directly bonded moiety, which can be located at a terminus of the polymer, defined by the formula —CR 1 R 2 NH-Q-M where M is (N═CR 1 R 2 ) or N-(QN═CR 1 R 2 ) 2 each Q independently is a substituted or unsubstituted, cyclic or acyclic C 1 -C 40 alkyl, aryl, or alkaryl radical, and each R 1 and R 2 independently is a hydrogen atom or a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl, aryl, allyl, aralkyl, alkaryl, or alkynyl group. The polymer can be provided by introducing a polyimine compound into a system that includes carbanionic (living) polymer. Such polymers can be used in the production of compositions that include particulate fillers.

  synthesis of the new electron-rich, sterically hindered proazaphosphatrane shown above is described herein. This proazaphosphatrane catalyzes the cyclotrimerization of a wide variety of isocyanates to isocyanurates under mild conditions with unprecedentedly fast reaction times, giving moderate to high product yields. It is also shown that this proazaphosphatrane can be recycled up to 5 times.
