Here, we have reported an efficient one-pot, three-component reaction between various aryl aldehydes, NH2OH.HCl, and propargyl alcohol using Ni-Fe2O4 as a nanocatalyst. Reactions were performed in ethanol at room temperature to obtain various 3-aryl substituted isoxazole-5-carboxylic acids. The synthesis of a series of new 5-isoxazolpenicillins is described, which were obtained by coupling substituted isoxazoles with 6-APA. Concise large-scale synthesis of 3,5-disubstituted isoxazoles by 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition using copper(I) as catalyst was also investigated.
