Abstract A facile and efficient method for the preparation of Z-aldoximes is improved by means of P2O5/SiO2 reagent in solvent-free media. Advantages of this method are the use of inexpensive and selectivereagent, with high yields in simple operation, and short reaction time undersolvent-freeconditions.

Nitriles of the general formula I R.sup.1 --CN (I) where R.sup.1 is a saturated or unsaturated, straight-chain, branched or cyclic alkyl radical, an aralkyl radical or an aryl radical, each of which is of not more than 20 carbon atoms and can be unsubstituted or further substituted, and (meth)acrylamide are prepared simultaneously by a process in which an aldoxime of the general formula III R.sup.1 --CH.dbd.NOH (III) where R.sup.1 has the above meanings, is heated at from 50.degree. to 180.degree. C. in the presence of a copper(II) carboxylate and of (meth)acrylonitrile.
A series of fourteen benzaldoximes were synthetized and evaluated for antioxidant activity using lipidperoxidation (LP) method based on TBA-MDA assay, selecting BHA, BHT, troxol and quercetin as positive controls. Except for compounds 5, 6 and 9, most of the tested compounds had antioxidant properties. Compounds 12 (IC50 = 25.7 ± 5.2 μM) and 13 (IC50 = 55.3 ± 21.1 μM) expressed excellent antioxidant

Verfahren zur gleichzeitigen Herstellung von Nitrilen der allgemeinen Formel I
in der R1 einen gesättigten oder ungesättigten, geradkettigen, verzweigten oder cyclischen Alkylrest, einen Aralkylrest oder einen Arylrest mit jeweils bis zu 20 Kohlenstoffatomen bedeutet, der gegebenenfalls weiter substituiert sein kann, und von (Meth)acrylamid durch Erwärmen von Aldoximen der allgemeinen Formel III
in der R' die oben genannte Bedeutung besitzt, in Gegenwart eines Kupfer(II) carboxylats sowie in Anwesenheit von (Me- th)acrylnitril auf eine Temperatur von 50 bis 180°C.
