via Pd-catalyzed C(sp3)H activation and intramolecular CO functionalization starting from carboxylic acids or alcohols using the bidentate directing group has been developed. Substrates with both primary and secondary hydroxyl groups can undergo this reaction to produce the corresponding cyclic ethers.
