  A convenient procedure for highly efficient chemoselective cyclization of threo-(1S,2S)-2-amino-1-(4-nitrophenyl)propane-1,3-diol with some ketones was described. The structures of the condensates were elucidated on the basis of the IR, H-1- and C-13-NMR, and mass spectra. Ring-ring tautomerism in 2-aminopropane-1,3-diol chemistry is reported for the first time.

The structures of the condensates were elucidated on the basis of the IR, H-1- and C-13-NMR, and mass spectra. Ring-ring tautomerism in 2-aminopropane-1,3-diol chemistry is reported for the first time.
