The total synthesis of trans-1-acetoxy-10-(n-propyl)trideca-5,9-diene (propylure), a substance which induces highly active sexual response in the male bollwormmoth has been accomplished using several novel synthetic methods. The efficiency of the techniques employed are demonstrated by an overall yield of 31 % for the sexattractant.
