Reactions of organolithium complexes with elemental selenium: insertion producing [PhCCSeLi·TMEDA·THF] 1 and cyclisation producing [{PhC}4Se] 2 (TMEDA=[Me2NCH2]2)
摘要:
The reaction of [PhC equivalent to CLi](n), with Se metal (1:1 equivalents) in THF/TMEDA gives the insertion product [PhC equivalent to CSeLi . TMEDA . THF] 1, which is monomeric in the solid state. The reaction of PhC equivalent to CPh with Li metal, generating dilithium tetraphenylbutadiene in situ, followed by the addition of elemental Se gives the selenophene [{PhC}(4)Se] 2, as a result of insertion of Se followed by the elimination of Li2Se. The latter provides a clean and direct route to compounds of this type. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.

of aromatic group 16 thiophene, selenophene, and tellurophene rings with the I(III) oxidants PhI(OAc)(OTf) and [PhI(Pyr)2][OTf]2 (Pyr = pyridine). In all reactions, oxidative processes take place, with generation of PhI as the reduction product. However, with the exception of tellurophene with PhI(OAc)(OTf), +4 oxidation state complexes are not observed, but rather a variety of other processes occur

Oxidation of tetraarylselenophenes with m-chloroperbenzoic acid produces cis-1,2-diaroyl-1,2-diarylethylenes and SeO2 as the principal product, while the oxidation of benzo[b]selenophene affords benzo[b]selenophene 1-oxide.
RegioselectiveSuzukicross-couplingreactions of tetrabromoselenophene allow a convenient synthesis of aryl-substituted selenophenes. High yields were obtained using a novel biaryl-monophosphine ligand. The first tetra(1-alkynyl)selenophene was prepared in one step by a Sonogashirareaction of tetrabromoselenophene.
