Reaction between carbethoxycyclopropyltriphenylphosphonium tetrafluoborate (1a) and sodium succinimide affords the adduct (2a) which was converted in two additional steps into ± isoretronecanol; some other condensations between (1a) and imide salts are described.
N-Unsubstituted imides react with 1-carboethoxycyclopropyltriphenylphosphonium tetrafluoroborate to yield N-acyl-Δ2-pyrroline, pyrrolizidine, and indolizidine derivatives.
