    A catalytic process for hydrogenating aromatic di- and polyamines with the aid of a selected catalyst system is provided, which comprises a mixture of a first heterogeneous catalyst and a second heterogeneous catalyst and a nitro compound (nitrate and/or nitrite salt). The first and second heterogeneous catalyst each independently comprise a metal selected from the group consisting of Cr, Mo, W, Mn, Re, Fe, Ru, Os, Co, Rh, Ir, Ni, Pd and/or Pt and the metal selected for the second heterogeneous catalyst is different from the metal selected for the first heterogeneous catalyst. Hydrogenation of aromatic rings having two or more amino groups bound to the aromatic ring produces cycloaliphatic di- and polyamines, which are useful chemical intermediates, e.g., for further reaction with epoxides or isocyanates. The amino groups may also be converted to isocyanates via reaction with phosgene. The resulting cycloaliphatic di- and polyisocyanates may also be used as monomers for making polymers.

    Composition and process for production of rigid polyurethane and polyisocyanurate foam, and foam made from such composition and by such process. A composition for production of rigid polyurethane foam includes a) an organic compound containing at least 1.8 isocyanate-reactive groups per molecule; b) an organic polyisocyanate selected from the group consisting of: b1) alkyl or cycloalkyl polyisocyanates having at least two isocyanate groups, and in which the alkyl portion contains 2-6 carbon atoms; and b2) aromatic polyisocyanates containing at least 2 isocyanate groups, and at least two six-membered aromatic rings which are fused together or are joined by a carbon-carbon bond or are linked by a divalent linkage selected from the group consisting of alkylene groups of 1-6 carbon atoms, -O-, -CO-, -CO₂-, -S-, and -SO₂-; c) a catalytically effective amount of a catalyst capable of promoting formation of urethane bonds; d) an effective amount of a hydrochlorofluorocarbon blowing agent; and e) a foam stabilizing amount of a hydrolytically stable siloxane-oxyalkylene block copolymer surfactant containing capped hydroxyl groups in the oxyalkylene portion of the molecule. A process for making rigid polyurethane foam involves reacting and foaming such composition.

    The polyimide precursor composition of the present invention is characterized in comprising a polyimide precursor having a structure formed by reacting a diamine component (A) containing a fluorine-containing aromatic diamine (a1) represented by the following chemical formula (I) (in the formula (I), R1 and R2 are each independently selected from -H, -(CF2)n-CF3, and -O(CF2)n-CF3 (n is an integer of 0 or more and 7 or less), and at least one of R1 and R2 is a fluorine-containing group) and trans-1,4-cyclohexyldiamine (a2) with an acid dianhydride component(B) containing an aliphatic tetracarboxylic dianhydride (b1) and an aromatic tetracarboxylic dianhydride (b2). Use of the composition of the present invention provides a polyimide film and a transparent flexible film having high transparency, low thermal expansion properties, low birefringent properties, and high heat resistance.
