The synthesis of 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinolines via an intramolecularcyclization of N-trifluoroacylated phenethylamines devoid of electron donating groups, with paraformaldehyde mediated by acetic/sulfuric acid milieu is described.
The invention relates to compounds of Formula (I) wherein R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5 are as described in the description; to pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, and to the use of such compounds as medicaments, especially as modulators of the CXCR3 receptor.

The synthesis and SAR of a novel 3-benzazepine series of 5-HT2Cagonists is described.
