  Allenes 2,4-dimethyl-2,3-pentadiene and 3-methyl-1,2-butadiene in liquid sulfur dioxide undergo ene addition with the solvent giving the stable 3-(2,4-dimethyl-1,2-pentadienyl) and 2-(3-methyl-1,2-butadienyl) sulfinic acids.
