An α-olefinic random copolymer is disclosed which comprises 70% to 99.9% by weight of a recurring unit (a) derived from an α-olefin component having 5 to 10 carbon atoms, and 0.1% to 30% by weight of a recurring unit (b) derived from an α,ω-nonconjugated diene component having 6 to 20 carbon atoms, the copolymer possessing an inherent viscosity [η] measured in decalin at 135°C of from 0.5 to 10 dl/g, a crystallinity [Xc] measured by an X-ray diffraction method of from 0 to 50%, a glass transition temperature [Tg] of from 30 to 60°C, and an iodine value of from 0 to 10.
This copolymer exhibits improved mouldability and a high vibration-damping performance at high temperature. A process for producing the copolymer is also disclosed.
