Synthesis and characterization of β-alkoxycarbonylethyltin trichloride complexes with dibutylsulfoxide. Crystal structure of CH3CH2OCOCH2CH2SnCl3 · (n-C4H9)2SO

The organotin(IV) complexes, ROCOCH2CH2SnCl3 . nL (R = Me, Et, n-Pr, Allyl, n-Bu, i-Bu; n = 1, 2; L = dibutylsulfoxide) have been synthesized and characterized. The spectral data (IR, H-1 and C-13 NMR) indicate that the 1:1 (n = 1) and 1:2 (n = 2) complexes are all hexa-coordinated tin compounds, and the carbonyl oxygen is coordinated to intramolecular tin atom in 1:1 complexes and is free in 1:2 complexes. The crystal structure of EtOCOCH2CH2SnCl3 . L shows that the fin atom adopts a distorted octahedral geometry via the oxygens of dibutylsulfoxide and intramolecular carbonyl group to tin coordination. Synthesis, crystal structure and transesterification reaction of the beta -propoxy-carbonylethyltin trichloride complex with dibenzylsulfoxide have been reported and a possible mechanism for the transesterification has been suggested. A series of the complexes of beta -alkoxycarbonylethyltin trichloride with dibenzylsulfoxide have been synthesized and characterized by means of elemental analyses, IR, and H-1 NMR spectra.

The organotin(IV) complexes of N-(2-mercaptophenyl)salicylaldimine, ROCOCH2CH2SnClL (L = OC6H4CH=-NC6H4S, R = alkyl), were synthesized by the reaction of 2-alkoxycarbonylethyltin trichlorides with N-(2-mercaptophenyl)salicylaldimine (H2L) in the presence of triethylamine and were characterized by elemental analyses, IR, H-1 NMR spectra and X-ray single crystal diffraction. The structural features of these compounds are discussed.
