Reaction of a ZnI2 solution in CH3OH/H2O with a solution of L in DMF gave rise to a novel 3D supramolecular compound [ZnI2L(CH3OH)(H2O)(2)](n) based on 1D wavy chain. The crystal structural analysis indicated that the complex crystallized in a monoclinic space group C2/c, a = 29.381(6), b = 13.021(3), c = 13.959(3), beta = 102.48(3), V = 5214.0(18) angstrom(3), Z = 8. The complex possessed a 3-D supramolecular framework formed by intermolecular hydrogen bonding among 1D wavy chains.
