    N,N,N′,N-Tetramethylchloroformamidinium chloride reacted smoothly with a variety of carboxylic and phosphoric acids in the presence of a tertiary amine to give the corresponding acid anhydrides in high yields.

    Nitriles, e.g. acetonitrile and benzonitrile slowly react at elevated temperatures with mono-substituted phosphoric acids to give sym-pyrophosphates. Prior addition of a highly reactive halide, e.g. a chloromethyl ether or thioether, gives rise to a much more effective phosphoryl transfer. Both anhydrides and esters can be generated in this way.

    Organophosphonodichloridates react exothermically with DMSO in anhydrous solvents to give P1P2-disubstituted pyrophosphoric and pyrophosphonic acids. MeSCH2Cl, (MeS)2CH2, Me2S and Me2S2 were the sulphur compounds identified as by-products of the reaction.     Disclosed herein is a flame-retardant scratch-resistant thermoplastic resin composition comprising (A) about 20 to about 95% by weight of a polycarbonate resin; (B) about 1 to about 50% by weight of a copolymer resin comprising (B1) about 0 to about 100% by weight of a rubber modified vinyl graft copolymer resin and (B2) about 0 to about 100% by weight of a vinyl copolymer resin; (C) about 1 to about 50% by weight of a (meth)acrylic copolymer resin with a refractive index of about 1.50 to about 1.59; and (D) about 0.1 to about 40 parts by weight of a flame retardant, per 100 parts by weight of a base resin comprising (A)+(B)+(C).
