A series of substituted 3-(benzylideneamino) coumarins was synthesized and evaluated for anti-inflammatoryactivity against carrageenan-induced edema in rats. Halogenated derivatives 4g and 4c, at oral doses of 100 mg/kg, showed 75 and 60% antiedmatous activity, respectively (phenylbutazone antiedematous activity, 58%).
