Novel fused ring dicationic anti-protozoan compounds. Representative protozoan species include but are not limited to
Trypanosoma brucei rhodesiense
(T.b.r.) and
Plasmodium falciparum
. Prodrugs of these compounds can be used as an oral treatment for malaria and human African trypanosomiasis.
