  Palladium complexes containing the ligand 4,7‐dimethoxy‐1,10‐phenanthroline catalyze the reductive cyclization of nitrodienes using carbon monoxide as the reductant to give pyrroles. Carbon dioxide is the only stoichiometric byproduct of the reaction.
