Synthesis of transition metal complexes with heteroazomethinic ligands: a comparison of traditional and electrochemical methods

Transition metal complexes (M = Cu, Ni, Co, Pd, Zn and Cd) containing azomethinic ligands have been synthesized by conventional chemical methods and by direct electrochemical dissolution of the sacrificial metal anode. The resulting complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, IR and EPR-spectra and magnetochemical data. The influence of the type of metal, the peculiarities of the ligand structure and the methods of synthesis of metal chelates on their physico-chemical properties and structure are examined.
