    demonstrated moderate to high affinity for 5-HT1A and alpha1 receptor binding sites but had no affinity for D2 receptors. The study of the length of the alkyl chain and the imide substructure has allowed us to suggest some differences between the 5-HT1A and the alpha1-adrenergic receptors: (i) for III and IV, affinity for the 5-HT1A receptor as a function of the length of the methylene linker decreases

    Microwave irradiation, comparable to conventional thermal heating, proves to be a convenient method in assisting the synthesis of some butenamides, pyrrolidine-2,5-diones, and their benzenesulfonamido derivatives, which are known to have biological activities and wide medical and industrial applications. Both procedures were used to compare their efficiency in synthesizing butenamides and pyrrolidine-2,5-diones (2-25), which have important and wide applications, from condensation of \alpha,\beta-unsaturated anhydride (1) with the corresponding amines. Some of the products showed biological or cytotoxic (antiproliferative) activity.

    A marking comprises a layer, preferably of film-­forming material, which contains a photochromic compound. The photochromic compound is capable of changing colour when exposed to uv light, but can be converted to a perman­ently non-photochromic compound, preferably by over-­exposure to uv light. An image is formed in the layer by converting the photochromic compound to a permanently non-photochromic compound in one or more selected areas. When the layer is subsequently viewed under uv light a colourless image of non-photochromic compound can be seen on a background of coloured photochromic compound.

    In the present paper, we report the synthesis and the binding profile on 5-HT1A, alpha(1), and D-2 receptors of a new series of imide-arylpiperazines 3. The study oft he length of the alkyl chain and the imide substructure allows us to suggest some important differences between the no-pharmacophoric sites of both 5-HT1A and alpha(1)-adrenergic receptors, which could be of great importance in order to design new selective ligands.
