    A water-absorbent resin is produced by dispersing a solid blowing agent having an average particle diameter within a range of from 1 µm to 100 µm in an aqueous monomer solution containing an unsaturated monomer and a cross-linking agent, and then polymerizing the unsaturated monomer. The water-absorbent resin has excellent water absorption characteristics, such as improved dispersion and absorption rate of aqueous fluid, enhanced water retention capacity and dry touch, lower water-soluble component content, and lower residual monomer content. When a water-absorbent resin composition using the water-absorbent resin is used for, for example, a sanitary material, it is possible to improve the absorption rate and water retention capacity, and prevent leakage of fluid from the sanitary material.

    Filling foam composition capable of providing excellent rustproof and also suppressing reduction of a foam ratio of the filling foam composition even when reusing unwanted parts thereof and inferior goods thereof a foam filling member using the same filling foam composition; and a filling foam produced by foaming the filling foam composition. The filling foam composition is prepared by mixing foamable polymer, a foaming agent, and a basic oxide in such a mixing ratio that a ratio of the basic oxide can be in the range of 0.05-70 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of foaming agent. The mounting member for the filling foam composition to be mounted in an internal space of a hollow member is produced by mounting a mounting member on the filling foam composition obtained. The filling foam is formed by fitting the foam filling member in the internal space of the hollow member and, then, foaming the filling foam composition by the application of heat.

    Open-cell foam of ethylene-propylene-diene rubber that can convert to open-cell foams at the foaming of EPDM, rather than after the foaming of the same, and can produce low impact resiliency and improved filling capability. After 0.1·40 parts by weight of organic foaming agent, 2-40 parts by weight of inorganic foaming agent, and 2-40 parts by weight of foam auxiliary agent per 100 parts by weight of ethylene-propylene-diene rubber are mixed, the mixture is vulcanized and foamed to thereby produce open-cell foam of ethylene-propylene-diene rubber. This open-cell foam of ethylene-propylene-diene rubber has low impact resilience and good sealing performance so that it can be used as sealing materials of a variety of industrial products.
