    The polymerizable composition and the liquid crystal composition containing the polymerizable compound of the present invention have favorable storage stability as evaluated on the basis of the occurrence of precipitation, separation, or the like of crystals during storage. The present invention relates to a polymerizable compound, a liquid crystal composition which contains the compound, and further a liquid crystal display element which contains an optically anisotropic material which is a cured product of the liquid crystal composition, or a cured product which controls alignment of liquid crystal molecules. That is, the present invention relates to a polymerizable compound, and a liquid crystal composition containing the polymerizable compound which contains the polymerizable compound and a liquid crystal compound. The polymerizable compound is a compound represented by General Formula (I), and is useful for an optically anisotropic material, a retardation layer, an alignment film, or a polarizing layer.

The liquid crystal display device of the present invention prevents a decrease in the voltage holding ratio (VHR) of a liquid crystal layer and an increase in ion density (ID) therein and reduces defective display such as screen burn-in; hence, such a liquid crystal display device is particularly useful as liquid crystal display devices of a VA mode and PSVA mode which involve active matrix driving and can be applied to the liquid crystal display devices of liquid crystal TV sets, monitors, mobile phones, and smartphones.

    A photocurable composition, including (a) a photocurable monomer, e.g. a cationically curable monomer and/or a radically curable monomer; (b) reactive particles comprising a crosslinked elastomeric core, e.g. made of polysiloxane material, and a shell of reactive groups on an outer surface of the core, wherein the reactive groups comprise epoxy groups, ethylenically unsaturated groups, or hydroxy groups; and (c) an appropriate photoinitiator, e.g. a radical photoinitiator; and a cationic photoinitiator. A method of making a 3-D object from such a composition and a 3-D object made by the method are also provided. The cured composition generally has a smooth surface. The use of the reactive particles makes the composition more stable and the particles do not readily separate out.
