A process for producing a tetrafluoroethylene/hexafluoropropylene copolymer by copolymerizing tetrafluoroethylene with hexafluoropropylene in an aqueous medium using di(fluoroacyl) peroxide as the polymerization initiator, wherein a fluoroalkylcarboxylic acid is fed to the reaction system. The obtained copolymer has a stabilized molecular weight and the polymerization initiator can be utilized more efficiently.
A process for preparing a fluorine-containing polymer through emulsion polymerization method which enhances productivity while maintaining excellent physical properties of the fluorine-containing polymer and comprises (a) a first polymerization step for emulsion-polymerizing a fluorine-containing monomer or a mixture of a fluorine-containing monomer and a non-fluorine-containing monomer in an aqueous medium in the presence of a radical polymerization initiator and an emulsifying agent, (b) a dilution step for diluting the obtained aqueous emulsion of polymer particles with water to reduce the number of emulsified polymer particles per unit amount of aqueous medium in the emulsion and a concentration of emulsifying agent, and (c) a second polymerization step for emulsion-polymerizing a fluorine-containing monomer and/or a non-fluorine-containing monomer in the obtained diluted emulsified solution.

The present invention provides a process for preparing a fluorine-containing elastomer in a high productivity comparable to that of non-iodine transfer polymerization process by carrying out an iodine transfer polymerization at high pressure. The present invention also provides a fluorine-containing elastomer prepared by this process, and fluorine-containing molded articles. The process is a batch copolymerization process conducted under conditions that the reduced temperature of the critical constant is at least 0.95 and the reduced pressure of the critical constant is at least 0.80 wherein the reduced temperature and the reduced pressure are calculated using the Peng-Robinson formula from the critical temperature, the critical pressure and the composition ratio of each of the monomers in the gaseous phase in a reaction vessel,
in which ethylenically unsaturated compounds containing at least one fluoroolefine are copolymerized in the presence of a compound having the formula: Rf1·Ix wherein Rf1 is a saturated or unsaturated fluorohydrocarbon or chlorofluorohydrocarbon group having 1 to 16 carbon atoms, and x is the number of bonds of Rf1 and an integer of 1 to 4.
The present invention provides a graft or a block polymer in which a fluorine rubber and a silicone rubber are chemically bonded. The present invention is a graft or a block polymer comprising at least one kind of a silicone rubber segment and at least one kind of a fluorine elastomer segment. Furthermore, it is preferable that a fluoirne containing elastomer segment is an elastomer segment comprising vinylidene fluoride or an elastomer segment comprising tetrafluoroethylene and that a silicone rubber segment has a unit of dimethylsiloxane and /or methyl-3,3,3-trifluoropropylsiloxane.
The present invention provides a peroxide-vulcanizable fluorine-containing elastomer composition which is remarkably improved in fluidity and thereby exhibits improved processability, though conventional fluorine-containing elastomer compositions could be molded only by a molding process having a problem in its productivity, for instance, compression molding or transfer molding which has been used so far as a general molding process. The present invention further provides a molded article obtained by vulcanizing the composition. The present invention also provides a fluorine-containing elastomer composition in which a large amount of a filler can be blended. Specifically, the present invention relates to the fluorine-containing elastomer composition comprising a fluorine-containing elastomer (A) composed of a structural unit derived from vinylidene fluoride and/ or a structural unit of tetrafluoroethylene and a structural unit derived from at least one other monomer, and having (a) a number average molecular weight (Mn) of 30,000 to 70,000 g/mol, and (b) an iodine content of 0.3 to 1.0 % by weight and an organoperoxide vulcanizing agent (B).
