In this study, unsymmetrical dipositive platinum(II) complexes of the general formula [Pt(L-L)(L'-L')]Br-2, where L-L and L'-L' = dppm (Ph(2)PCH(2)PPh(2)), dppe (Ph(2)P(CH2)(2)PPh(2)) or dppp (Ph(2)P(CH2)(3)PPh(2)) have been synthesized and characterized by P-31(H-1) NMR, IR, UV-Vis, elemental analyses and conductance data. Chlorine analogs of these complexes have also been prepared in the NMR tube and their P-31(H-1) NMR spectra were recorded. In a similar manner, [PtBr2(dcpe)] (dcpe = Cy(2)P(CH2)(2)PCy(2); Cy = cyclohexyl (C6H11)) has been treated with dppm and dppe to form [Pt(dcpe)(dppm)]Br-2 and [Pt(dcpe)(dppe)]Br-2, respectively.
