A novel synthesis of 2,2-disubstituted 3-amino-2H-azirines based on the reaction between amide enolates and diphenyl phosphorochloridate (DPPCl), followed by treatment with NaN3 is presented. The yields obtained in general are excellent, and the method is suitable for laboratory-scale preparations as well as for larger amounts.

Suitable o-bromo-N-methylanilides are efficiently converted into oxindoles by treatment with tributylstannane at 160 °C tanden translocation of the initially formed aryl radical and intramolecular homolytic substitution.

Cu-Catalyzed Methylenation of Alcohols with <i>N</i>-Methyl Amide as a Sustainable Methylene Reagent
Herein, we report a new approach to methylenation of alcohols using N-methyl amide as a sustainable methylene reagent; the N-methyl delivers the methylene group. This new reagent is easily prepared and stable to both air and moisture. Furthermore, the final byproduct of this methylene reagent can be recycled in excellent yields and then reused in methylenation reactions upon treating with CH3I.
