A π-conjugated compound has rings represented by Formulae (I) and (II), an odd number of rings being interposed between the rings of Formula (I), and an odd number of rings being interposed between the rings of Formula (II):
where R1 and R2 are hydrogen or a substituted or unsubstituted linear, cyclic, or branched alkyl group of 1 to 20 carbon atoms, at least one of R1 and R2 being not hydrogen; and R3 and R4 are hydrogen or a substituted or unsubstituted linear, cyclic, or branched perfluoroalkyl group of 1 to 20 carbon atoms.
Three-dimensional conjugated architectures involving conjugated branches with terminal EDOT groups attached onto a bithiophene core twisted by ca. 90° by steric interactions have been synthesized by Stille coupling reactions. The UV-Vis absorption spectra recorded in solution show complex spectral features that depend on both the size and chemical structure of the main conjugated segment and of the conjugated side chains. Thanks to the fixation of the terminal EDOT groups, these compounds undergo straightforward and complete electropolymerization to produce stable electrode materials. The analysis of the electrochemical and optical properties of the polymers by cyclic voltammetry and spectroelectrochemistry suggests that the electrochemical coupling of the terminal EDOT groups leads to the formation of Ï-conjugated networks the electrochemical and optical properties of which can be tuned through the length and chemical composition of the oligomeric conjugated links.

The present invention disclosed a novel (4,8-bis(5-(trimethylstannyl)thiophen-2- yl)benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b']dithiophene-2,6-diyl)bis(trimethylstannane) compound, its preparation and use for the synthesis of polymers, which is used to build devices for capacitor and solar applications. The present invention further discloses to an improved process for the synthesis of DTBDT having improved yields.
A facile synthetic approach toward thiacalix[n]thiophene homologues (n=4–6) is presented herein. Pd‐catalyzed coupling of 2,5‐dibromothiophene derivatives with stannyl sulfide gave various thiacalix[n]thiophenes in good yields. The optical and electrochemicalproperties of the produced cavitands were investigated. Furthermore, gelation was observed in some solvents.
