1-(3-methoxybenzyl)-3-substituted thiourea antioxidant compounds and improved lipids compositions which are supplemented with amounts of such antioxidant compounds effective for augmenting oxidative stability of the base lipid are provided. Also provided are methods for enhancing the oxidative stability of a lipid comprising supplementing a base lipid in need of enhanced oxidative stability with at least one 1-(3-methoxybenzyl)-3-substituted thiourea compound of the present invention.
A Simple One-Pot Procedure for Preparing Symmetrical Diarylureas from Carbon Dioxide and Aromatic Amines

Abstract Symmetrical diarylureas can be prepared by purging an aromaticamine with carbondioxide in the presence of a strong amidine base followed addition of solid commercially available Me3N.SO3. Work up is simply by dilution with water. The procedure is far simpler and safer than traditional methods using phosgene or isocyanates.
Unsymmetric di(heteroaryl)ureas such as HetAr1-NHCONH-HetAr2 are efficiently synthesized from two symmetricureas, HetAr1-NHCONH-HetAr1 and HetAr2-NHCONH-HetAr2, by rhodium-catalyzed exchange reactions. The equilibrium in some of the reactions can be shifted to the formation of unsymmetricureas by the aggregation of the dimers formed by inter- and intramolecular hydrogen bonding.
