Thermalisomerization of phosphonic α-aminoesters bearing a 4,5-carboxymethyltriazole ring in α position is described. The results are analyzed by 31P, 1H, and 13C NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. The same phenomenon is also observed in the case of carboxylic amino acids analogs. It does not occur with triazoles bearing a substituent other than carboxymethyl.
