  The X-ray crystal structures of [PtCl2(dppm)], [Pt(C6F5)2L] (L = dppm (bis(diphenylphosphino)methane), dpam (bis(diphenylarsino)methane), dpae (bis(diphenylarsino)ethane)) and [PtCl(C6F5)(dpae)] show the complexes to be monomeric with chelating dipnictido ligands, and not alternatives with bridging ligands. In [Pt(C6F5)2(dpam)2], there are two unidentate diarsine ligands in a cis-arrangement.

  study of the reactivity of 1 towards CH2Cl2 and protic acids has led to the structural characterization of [Pt(dpae)(S2CH2)] 9 and [PtCl2(dpae)] 10. Moreover, comparison with the reactivity of [Pt2(dppe)2(mu-S)2] indicates that the stability of the intermediate species as well as the nature of the final products in both multistep reactions are sensitive to the nature of the terminal ligand.

  The preparation of five new platinum(II) complexes of the general formula (C6F5)2PtL2 (L2 = Ph2AsCH2CH2AsPh2; and the cis- and trans-isomers when L = PBu3 or AsPh3) is described. The oxidative addition of X2 (X = Cl or Br) to some compounds of the aforementioned type leads to eight new platinum(IV) complexes X2(C6F5)2PtL2 (L = PBu3; L2 = 2,2′ -bipyridine, 1,10-phenanthroline or Ph2AsCH2CH2AsPh2).
