Abstract Thin films of a new dimeric ruthenium phthalocyanine complex bearing a thioester-functionalized axial ligand were formed on gold surfaces. Characterization of the thin films by laser ablation-inductively coupled-mass spectrometry and scanning tunneling microscopy revealed that the films do not have any long-range order.
The present invention provides novel 4-methylsulphone-substituted piperidine urea compounds that are useful for the treatment of dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) and conditions associated with left and/or right ventricular systolic dysfunction or systolic reserve. The synthesis and characterization of the compounds is described, as well as methods for treating DCM and other forms of heart disease.

Monocyclic beta-lactams have been identified as potent and selective inhibitors of the human cytomegalovirus protease (HCMV) N-o. Two series of these inhibitors are described, a peptidyl series of compounds and non-peptidic molecules featuring lower molecular weights.
