Hydrotalcite is an efficient catalyst for air oxidation of a variety of aromatic, aliphatic and alicyclic thiols in hexane, affording the corresponding disulfides in excellent to quantitative yields under mild and neutral conditions.
An inexpensive combination of common laboratory reagents, dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and chromatographic neutral alumina, gives an efficient, selective, and high-yielding oxidation of aromatic, aliphatic and alicyclic thiols to the corresponding disulfides in excellent yields under relatively mild conditions.

Abstract Medium length aliphatic disulfides are easily synthesized via the bromine-oxidation ofthiols in the absence of solvent. Bromine can also oxidize long aliphatic and aromatic thiols to disulfides in solution. All yields are quantitative.

The construction of C(sp2)–X (X = B, N, O, Si, P, S, Se, etc.) bonds has drawn growing attention since heteroatomic compounds play a prominent role from biological to pharmaceutical sciences. The current study demonstrates the C(sp2)–S/Se and C(sp2)–N bondformation of one carbon of isocyanides with thiophenols or disulfides or diselenides and azazoles simultaneously. The reported findings could provide
