    A method for producing a polyolefin is disclosed which comprises polymerizing an a-olefin in the presence of a catalyst composition comprising (A) a solid catalyst component prepared by contacting (a) a solid component comprising a magnesium alkoxide and/or a magnesium salt of a fatty acid supported on an inorganic oxide composed of at least one member selected from the group consisting of oxides of elements belonging to Groups II, III and IV of the periodic table and/or a composite inorganic oxide containing at least one member selected from the group consisting of oxides of elements belonging to Groups II, III and IV of the periodic table, the inorganic oxide or composite inorganic oxide having a surface hydroxide concentration of 3 µmol/m2 or less, (b) an electron donating compound and (c) a titanium halide, (B) an organic metal compound, and (C) an electron donating compound. According to the method, a step of removing the catalyst residue from the polypropylene produced can be eliminated and the products have well balanced mechanical strength such as stiffness and impact strength.

    A process for producing a butene-1 polymer is disclosed which is characterized in that, in a process for producing a homopolymer of butene-1 or a copolymer of butene-1 and an α-­olefin other than the butene-1 in the presence a catalyst obtained from a solid catalyst component (A), an organic aluminium compound (B) and an electron donating compound (C) and under the condition of vapor phase polymerization, the solid catalyst component (A) is a non-layer solid catalyst component obtained by producing a carrier by chlorinating at least one kind of organic magnesium compounds represented by formula MgRʹRʺ (1) wherein Rʹ and Rʺ, which may be the same or different, each represent an alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, with at least one kind of chlorinating agents, the carrier produced is contacted in the presence of the electron donor with a titanic halide at a temperature of -25 to + 180°C, and the electron donating compound (C) is a heterocyclic compound represented by wherein R¹ and R⁴ each represent a hydrocarbon group, and R², R³ and R⁵ each represent a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group, and reaction temperature as the vapor phase polymerization condition is from 45 to 70°C.

    Disclosed is a composition of polybutene-1 comprised of a polymer resulting from preliminarily polymerization of a small amount of an α -olefin, which has an intrinsic viscosity [η ]p of 7 dl/gram or lower, as measured at 135°C in a decalin solution; and a homopolymer of butene-1 or a copolymer of butene-1 and 20% by weight of an α -olefin other than butene-1, the composition of polybutene-1 having an intrinsic viscosity [ η ]t of 0.5 - 7.0 dl/gram, when measured at 135 °C in a decalin solution, and satisfying the following relationship with respect to the intrinsic viscosity [η ]p: [η ]p ≦ 2.5 x [η ]r. The composition is prepared by preliminarily polymerizing the α -olefin in the presence of a catalyst obtainable from a solid catalyst component containing magnesium, a halogen and titanium, an organoaluminium compound and an electron donor to be added as needed, and hydrogen, yielding a polymer resulting from preliminary polymerization having the intrinsic viscosity [η ]p of 7 dl/gram or less, as measured at 135 °C in a decalin solution; and then by polymerizing butene-1 or a mixture of butene-1 and an α -olefin other than butene-1 with the polymer resulting from preliminary polymerization in the presence of the catalyst used in preliminary polymerization and a catalyst obtainable from the organoaluminium compound and the electron donor so as to contain the polymer resulting from preliminary polymerization at a rate ranging from 0.005% to 5.0% by weight with respect to the weight of the composition of polybutene-1. The composition provides resulting films with highly improved appearance and with a lesser number of gel and fish eyes.

    A flexible polypropylene resin suitable as thermoplastic elastomer, etc.; a propylene elastomer composition comprising said resin; and a process for producing an olefin polymer to be used in the production of said resin and said composition. Said polypropylene resin is composed of specified boiling heptane-soluble polypropylene and boiling heptane-insoluble polypropylene. Said elastomer composition is composed of said polypropylene resin and an ethylene/propylene copolymer or an ethylene/propylene/polyene copolymer. Said production process comprises conducting solvent-less polymerization such as vapor-phase one-step or multistep polymerization in the presence of a specified catalyst.

    A polyolefinic resin which is a homopolymer of an olefin or a copolymer of olefins, has (i) intrinsic viscosity [η] measured in decaline at the temperature of 135°C in the range of 0.5 to 10 deciliter/g and (ii) content of insoluble fraction in boiling n-heptane (W) in the range of 10 to 99 weight % and shows (iii) relation between relaxation time of rubber component measured by pulse NMR at the temperature of 30°C [T2HR (30): µs], relaxation time of rubber component measured by pulse NMR at the temperature of 80°C [T2HR (80): µs] and the content of insoluble fraction in boiling n-heptane (W) satisfying the following equations: T2H​R (80) ≦ 670 - 2.2 × W T2H​R (80) / T2H​R (30) ≦ 8.8 + 0.086 × W and a propylenic resin composition comprising (A) 10 to 95 weight % of the polyolefinic resin, particularly a propylenic resin which is at least one kind selected from a homopolymer of propylene and copolymers of propylene containing 4 mol % or less of other olefinic units, and (B) 90 to 5 weight % of a propylenic random copolymer having intrinsic viscosity [η] measured in decaline at the temperature of 135°C in the range of 0.5 to 10 deciliter/g and containing 10 to 80 mol % of olefinic units other than the propylenic unit are disclosed. The polyolefinic resin and the composition have high heat resistance and excellent mechanical properties in a wide range of modulus, show small temperature dependence of the mechanical properties and do not cause stickiness on the surface of molded articles.
